Gazprom denies acquisition talks for Austria’s OMV

MOSCOW, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- The Russian gas giant Gazprom is negotiating the acquisition of a stake in Austrian oil and gas firm OMV, Deputy CEO Vitaly Markelov said Friday on the sidelines of an annual shareholder meeting.

“This is not true,” he said.

Reuters reported on Thursday that Gazprom is in talks to buy Abu Dhabi's 24.9% stake in the oil and gas company.

Also on Thursday, Chairman of Osterreichischen Industrieholding (OIAG) Siegfried Wolf said that he knew nothing about the deal. OIAG owns a 31.5% stake in OMV.
